Indianola Dance Academy proudly entered the competition community in 2011 with an enthusiastic team of 4 to 7-year-olds. They took the stage with remarkable uniformity, pride and eagerness, impressively showcasing their talent despite the absence of fancy costumes or prior competition experience. Not only did they secure the top award, but they also emerged as category winners, earned a Judge’s Choice Award and qualified for Nationals. Just a couple of months later, equipped with the same handcrafted costumes and bright smiles, their hard work paid off as they placed in the Top Five.

Over the seven years we competed, we not only excelled in countless competitions but also forged enduring friendships that remain strong today. We garnered numerous Judge’s Choice Awards and consistently ranked in the top five and ten for our age groups and categories, achieving placements that ranged from High Silvers to Platinum or Emerald and Ruby, depending on the competition. In our final year of competition before COVID, we triumphed by winning multiple Judge’s Choice Awards, securing second place in the Student Choreography Award and proudly claiming the inaugural Professionalism Award presented by one competition.

We reopened in the fall of 2024 after COVID, aiming to reboot our competition program. This year, we focused on improving technique, building core strength, and enhancing performance. We are dedicated to creating a team atmosphere that promotes collaboration and growth among all participants. Our training sessions are dynamic, aimed at improving skills and fostering camaraderie. We have welcomed both returning and new families to IDA, working to ensure they feel part of our community and are excited for the journey ahead as we work together to achieve our goals and elevate our program.
This next season, we are boldly reentering the competition community with an unwavering mindset. We seek not just talented dancers who master proper technique but offer a warm and inclusive environment where everyone is treated with equality and respect. While placement and awards hold significance in the competition world, at IDA, we place a stronger emphasis on cultivating resilient, kind, and compassionate individuals.
We are searching for dancers who truly connect with our approach and goals, understanding that the right attitude is essential for growth in both dance and life. If your family is ready to talk about our expectations, fees, teaching methods, and our commitment to developing your dancer into a wonderful individual and artist, we look forward to meeting you! This meeting will allow us to explore how our inclusive program can support your dancer’s unique dreams while creating a nurturing environment that values creativity, discipline, diversity, and the joy of self-expression.
We encourage you to reach out to us below to spark a conversation and explore the possibilities that our program has in store for your dancer and family!
